Wolfram Neubauer


After holding management positions in science libraries in Germany for 14 years, Dr. Wolfram Neubauer became Director of the Libraries and Collections of The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH Zurich) in 1996. ETH Zurich is a well-known university with a strong emphasis on science and technology, but in the meantime has broadened its focus to social sciences and various aspects of health sciences and the humanities.

Before starting his professional career Wolfram Neubauer studied mineralogy and chemistry at Munich University and completed these studies with a dissertation in the year 1982. In addition to this he started a 2-year postgraduate course at the Bavarian State Library and finished this training with a degree as Scientific Librarian.

In his work as Director of ETH Libraries and Collections Wolfram Neubauer is strongly focused on all aspects of the management and organization of science libraries. Besides this he is widely lecturing in different library programs within science institutions and universities, he is active as a library consultant and has written about 90 papers, dealing with more or less all aspects of library work.
