Business Models in STM Publishing


The creation, distribution and reception of scientific information changed significantly during the past years. This leads to many opportunities for new business models in STM Publishing. The open access movement and pressure on library budgets also creates a need for further changes.

I will discuss different business models, their opportunities and tasks and will carve out some consequences for the main market participants.
