Olaf Ernst


Dr. Olaf Ernst is President eProduct Management & Innovation for Springer STM.

After having received his PhD in Business Administration at the University of Jena (Germany) with teaching experience, post graduate research at the University of California (USA) and his Executive MBA in Marketing at the University of Münster (Germany), he started his business career in 2000 at Bertelsmann AG, one of the largest media groups worldwide. As a consultant in the strategic unit of the Direct Group Bertelsmann, Olaf Ernst participated in several projects focusing on online business models to end-customers within the book and music industry, cooperating with companies like BOL or Napster. During this time he gained his first experience with eBooks. In January 2004, he was promoted to Head of Marketing Strategy and Brand Management at the German Book Club, and gained operational business experience in marketing, the book publishing industry and the book market.

In April 2005 Olaf Ernst joined Springer. He is responsible for Springer's eBooks, Springer's online platform SpringerLink, the Springer Online Journals Archives, eProducts - data processing and prices, and eProduct development. He serves on the STM Management Board at Springer and is member of the STM Future Lab Committee.
