Isidro F. Aguillo Caņo


Isidro F. Aguillo Caņo is the head of the Cybermetrics Lab of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC). His team is working in the development of R&D and other information society related indicators, new ways of describing web resources and the quantitative description of the processes of scientific communication through the Internet. He is the editor of the "Webometrics Ranking of the World Universities".

Since 1994 he has contributed to the diffusion of European Union programs of Information Science & Technology, as member of the Spanish node of the programs IMPACT II and INFO2000 and Spanish representative in the MIDAS network (DGXIII, European Commission). During the preparation of the 5th Framework Programme of R&D he was appointed to the Spanish Office for Science and Technology (SOST) in Brussels. In 2002 he was granted Metcalfe Visitor Professor in the University of New South Wales (Sydney, Australia).

In the last years he has been involved in several EU and Spanish R&D projects as a partner or as a leader. He is the editor of the electronic journal "Cybermetrics" and member of the advisory committee of other international scientific journals. He is usually invited to be member of the scientific committees of international conferences, chairing the 11th International Society for Scientometrics and Informetrics conference held in Madrid in 2007.
