Digital access to publications, primary research data, and virtual research environments, available to scholarly users without costs or other barriers - this is the vision of the German Research Foundation / Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) as a research founding agency towards eScience. The presentation focuses on the contribution of DFG to the transformation process towards an eScience and eResearch environment, putting emphasis on topics such as national licensing, digitization, open access publishing, research data and virtual research environments.
