This talk focusses on the description of the main weaknesses of current search engine technology (as for instance visible on the web) and provides a taxonomy of diagnostic instruments that could be used to make improvements in the quality of search results. A number of specific functionalities (involving the notion of vocabulary structures), in particular, the notion of a "dynamic result index" will be presented and illustrated during the talk.
