Dr. Alan Bundy Beyond Information Provision: The Academic Library as Educational Change-Agent - An Australian Perspective
Funding, ICT, flexibility and changing student: academic staff ratios in
massified undergraduate higher education are accelerating pedagogical
change and attention to graduate attributes in universities. Disaggregation of
teaching will provide a greater opportunity for academic librarians to
partner academic teachers in that change, a focus for which in Australia and New
Zealand is the Information Literacy Framework and the 2003 establishment
of the Australian and New Zealand Institute for Information Literacy. In the age
of information, the university library must recast its mission beyond
excellence in the provision of information access, to emphasise a commitment to
fostering the best use of that information.
